MOUNTAIN ELGON NATIONAL PARK Mt. Elgon National Park located in Mbale in Eastern Uganda, lies across Kenyan boarder and Uganda. It is an extinct volcano that first erupted more than 24 million years ago. Mt. Elgon is the fourth highest mountain in East Africa with the 2nd highest peak. It has a collapsed crater on top, characterized with vegetation Zones ranging from montane forest to high open moorland. The common animal species found in the park are; Hyenas, Buffalos, Leopards, Blue and White Colobus monkey, a number of bird species like African Goshawk. The best times to visit is during the drier seasons that is June-August, December-March.

Day one: Depart for Mbale home of of Mt Elgon at 8.00am, have a stopover at Sezibwa falls and later Mabira forest for a short nature walk and past vast sugar cane and tea plantations, visiting the source of the Nile in Jinja en route. Check in to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit Sipi Falls and go for an optional walk through the local Sabinyi shambas; this will double as a village walk. 

Day Two: After an early breakfast you will go for a hike to the Mt Elgon forest exploration center for guided walks where you could get to see some animals. In the afternoon you will take a walk to the bottom of Sipi falls and there have a picnic lunch, and possibly walk up to the neighbouring Manyara Caves. Enjoy the serene atmosphere at the falls returning for dinner.

Day three: Depart Sipi after breakfast with your packed lunch. You will have an optional stopover in Jinja to visit Bujagali falls and the source of the Nile, take an optional boat ride to the source of the Nile. Proceed to Kampala arriving in the evening
