Wildlife & Birds in Queen Elizabeth National Park

On arrival you will be met and transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park, situated on the Kazinga Channel between Lake Edward and Lake George, and to the south of the great Ruwenzori Mountains. With rolling grasslands, craters and crater lakes, tropical forests, papyrus swamps and extensive lake shore, 'QE', as it is affectionately known, undoubtedly offers Uganda's best open country birdwatching and wildlife-viewing. Great herds of Uganda Kob roam the grasslands, Giant Forest Hog is bold and uncaring, and along the Kazinga Channel you will be able to approach herds of Elephant, Cape Buffalo and Hippo by motor launch. During your 2-night stay you may may take a guided walk in the Maramagambo Forest and then visit the bat caves and blue lake. Your morning game drive may also lead you to the famous Lions, Red-tailed Monkey, Black and White Colobus and many bird species.

Day 1: On arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be met by your guide. After a briefing, set out to Queen Elizabeth stopping at places of interest like drum makers, fruit markets and other strategic places to appreciate nature. You travel the escarpment overlooking the Great Rift Valley. Time permitting; go for an evening game drive in the park.

Day 2: During the morning game drive, you may see crater lakes filled with huge flocks of flamingos, lions relaxing on grassy plains, and elephants ambling through the bush. The area ranks extremely high in biodiversity. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to see some of the famous birdlife.

Day 3: Either go for an early morning game drive or take a guided walk in the Maramagambo Forest and then visit the bat caves and blue lake or after an early breakfast, drive back to Kampala, where you will have a late lunch in one of the best restaurants in town. In the afternoon, enjoy an "urban safari" to the bustling fruit and craft market and some of Kampala's better cafes, galleries and boutiques. Tasteful souvenirs (carvings, prints, etc) can be found here. Later this afternoon, transfer to Entebbe for your onward flight. (B,L)
