Day 1: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Have lunch enroute in Masindi or a picnic in the Kaniyo-Pabidi forest. Continue to Murchison Falls National Park through Kichumbanyobo gates or cross by ferry to your lodge on the northern bank of the River Nile for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Early morning game drive on the Buligi, Albert or Queens tracks north of the river Nile, where you will see the wildlife unique to the African savannah. Or visit Nyamisika cliffs with a picnic breakfast (optional). After lunch, enjoy a cruise on the Nile River to the bottom of the thundering falls where crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes, elephants and a variety of water birds can be seen.
Day 3: Drive to the Top of the Falls for a breathtaking sight of the raging Nile at the point where the river explodes through a narrow gorge and cascades down to become a placid river. Start south to Fort Portal, past big tea estates, lunch enroute. Continue to Ndali Lodge. Either explore the crater lake nearby or relax at the lodge.
Day 4: This morning you will go chimp trekking in Kibale forest together with other primates crashing around through the high canopy of the forest with colourful birds squawking nearby. In the afternoon, either visit a school, or crater lakes or visit Bigodi swamp to see swamp birds and some of the community projects financed by tourism.
Day 5: Either a days walk in the foothills of the Rwenzoris; one of the great mountain ranges of the world, looking out for its forbidding peaks in the distance or drive straight to QE. The game seen will depend on the season; the Kasenyi plains are good for lion and the Mweya peninsula for a variety of animals.
Day 6: During morning game drive, you may see crater lakes filled with huge flocks of flamingos, lions relaxing on grassy plains, and elephants ambling through the bush. The area ranks extremely high in biodiversity. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to see some of the famous birdlife.
Day 7: After breakfast drive through the highlands of Uganda to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or drive via Ishasha home of the trip climbing lions. Roads permitting see tree climbing lions. The views are spectacular on this trip - at one point you can see the Virunga Volcanoes of Rwanda and the Congo. Bird life and primate life in Bwindi is superb, and there is an incredible variety of flora.
Day 8: Set out early for one of the world's greatest wildlife viewing experiences. At 8.00am, report to the ranger station, where the guides will take you through the dense bush to track gorillas. This trek can take from two to eight hours and requires a reasonable degree of fitness. Long trousers, long-sleeved shirts, gloves, and a sturdy pair of walking boots are advised. Once you locate the gorillas, you will have time to listen to them communicating and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male and the gentle giant silverback. This trek is considered one of the most unique in the world and it is the only opportunity to see mountain gorillas in the wild.
Day 9: Early morning departure for Lake Bunyonyi; boat trip on the lake to see the Batwas. Then drive to L. Mburo NP. Game viewing on the way to Mantana Mburo Tented Camp. O/N: Mantana Mburo Tented Camp (B,L,D) Day 10 Early morning game drive and time permitting, canoe trip on the lake. After late breakfast continue to Entebbe and transfer to the airport for return flight.
