The unit of currency is the Uganda shilling (UGX). Other international currencies like the US Dollar, Euro, Pound Sterling and regional currencies like the Kenya and Tanzania Shilling can easily be exchanged into local currency at any forex bureau or banking institution.  ATM cards with a Visa or MasterCard logo as well as major credit cards can be used to draw money at most ATMs in Kampala, Entebbe International Airport, and in a few other large towns.  When using bank cards issued outside of Uganda, ATM user fees apply and money will be received in Uganda Shillings.
